Book now out!
Dave McNally: The Montanan Who Revolutionized Baseball is now in print!
I got the word over the weekend from my publisher, Pennsylvania-based Sunbury Press, which you can find and order at https://www.sunburypress.com/collections/baseball/products/dave-mcnally?variant=43700231635037
What’s next? First, a book launch event in downtown Billings at This House of Books. No place better to do this than in Dave’s hometown, the place where he began his journey to stardom as a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles.
Various factors enter into scheduling the actual date, but I anticipate the event occurring no later than mid-November. I’ve also put in a request to Country Bookshelf in Bozeman to schedule an author event there soon after the Billings event. Whatever date we come up with in Bozeman is, as usual, subject to change depending on winter road and weather conditions.
And then, next spring and early summer, we (my wife, Cathie, and I) will wander farther, seeking readers for the book. Our Class B motor home is a fine way to travel, and I hope to have it take us to places where McNally pitched some of the best of his 181 wins with the Orioles: Baltimore, the Twin Cities, Chicago, Cincinnati, New York City and, of course, Los Angeles, where Dave started his first World Series game in 1966, an outing that Mo Drabowsky finished with a relief win. And then McNally clinched the Orioles first championship by shutting out the Dodgers and beating Don Drysdale in Game 4 of the Series in Baltimore.
If you purchase the book and are unable to attend the Billings or Bozeman events, not to worry. Drop me a line with your snail mail address, and I’ll send you a signed book plate.
And if you prefer an e-book or audio book, those are both coming from Sunbury.
Thanks again for being a loyal subscriber and potential reader of my fifth book.
